The integration of more data from public and private bodies into the electronic system brought changes to the automatically filled tax returns for thousands of employees and pensioners before AADE pressed the button for automatic submission of returns.
13,637 taxpayers have been notified, where new information has been sent to entities that change their tax liability with AADE inviting them to revisit the application to see the new tax results.
Reversal of tax returns
At the same time, information was launched for approximately 8,000 taxpayers, who were invited to complete and submit their tax return by July 27 because, based on their subsequent actions or more recent information that sent for them, they are no longer subject to the pre-clearance of the tax return. The same applies to taxpayers who submit declarations and information about them sent to public / private bodies, after submitting their declaration.
In any case, taxpayers should check the pre-filled codes for wages, pensions, property, vehicles, benefits, protected members and if they find any errors or omissions in them until July 1 to make the corrections and submit their return. On July 2, AADE will press the button for automatic submission of tax returns for employees and pensioners who have not yet submitted their returns themselves.
But even though the returns are automatically submitted, taxpayers have the opportunity to correct errors or missing codes on their return by submitting an amended return without penalty until July 26, 2024. initial declaration (in the E1 form) and in the forms (E2 and E3) will be automatically transferred to the new declaration to be submitted.
This means that the taxpayer does not have to complete his declaration from the beginning, but it is enough to change the points of the declaration that he submitted at the beginning where he finds errors or omissions.

With the tax returns submission period “running” and 30 days left to complete the process, 2,811,422 taxpayers have submitted their returns so far with the numbers showing the following:
– For 49.29% of the declarations or 1,385,749 the result is zero.
– For 21.19% of tax declarations, a tax refund was obtained, which on average reaches 310 euros. Based on AADE data, 595,740 taxpayers are entitled to tax refunds, with a total amount of 185.26 million euros.
– 29.53% of taxpayers are required to pay additional tax on the income earned in the previous year. Specifically, for 830,213 declarations the result of the liquidation is a debit, with a total amount of tax amounting to 1.05 billion euros. The average tax for these declarations amounts to 1,268 euros, 30% increased compared to the corresponding sample of settlement notes last year with an additional burden due to the increase in declared income but the new presumptive taxation system for the self-employed.
