A slight upward trend was observed in share prices at the opening of today’s session (22.7.2024) on Stock exchange in Athens, amid a mild upward movement in European markets.
Specifically, the General Index of the stock market stood at 1,468.93 points, marking an increase of 0.31%, while the value of transactions amounted to 4.78 million euros. The large-cap index rose 0.27%, while the mid-cap index was up 0.50%.
In the upper part of capitalization, the biggest increase was recorded in the shares of Alpha Bank (+1.13%), Sarantis (+1.08%), Motor Oil (+1.04%) and Autohellas (1.03 %).
On the contrary, the biggest decrease was registered in the segments of PPC (-1.21%) and EYDAP (-0.35%).
35 stocks increased, 17 decreased and 12 remained stable.
The biggest increase was recorded in the shares: SIDMA + 3.61% and Nakas + 3.15%, while the biggest decrease was recorded in the shares: Attica bank-27.87% and ELBE -8.18%.
European markets
European shares rose in early trade today, recovering from heavy losses in the previous session, as investors weighed the fallout from President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the US presidential race.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index was up 0.6% at 10:16 am Greek time, after Friday’s biggest weekly drop since the start of the year.
Most sector indices moved into positive territory, with shares in the construction sector gaining 0.8%.
