The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement today, June 9, about the parliamentary elections in South Ossetia.
The official Baku indicated that it “confirms its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and does not recognize the so-called parliamentary elections that took place in the Tskhinvali region of Georgia on June 9, 2024, as well as their results .”
Azerbaijan traditionally makes similar statements during elections in Abkhazia and South Ossetia – two subjects of international relations recognized by Russia and many other countries.
As reported EA Daily voting on election the parliament of South Ossetia of the VIII convocation will take place this Sunday. 71 polling stations were opened in the republic itself and one each in Vladikavkaz and Moscow.
