Investing.com – The company was forced to reduce the number of AI-generated answers in online search results due to a number of errors made by the technology. WROTE Business Insider.
The AI-powered Overviews feature, launched just two weeks ago, has faced a wave of criticism for generating false and illogical answers, including when the AI advises users to add more pizza sauce glue.
The Overviews feature places an AI-generated summary of search results at the top of the page for US users.
However, in the past few days, users have noticed fewer AI reviews after the criticism. Google’s head of search, Liz Reed, confirmed that the company has limited answers in trying to solve some of these issues.
The latter includes, for example, glitching AI reviews and creating fake images. For example, answers include that former US President Barack Obama is a Muslim president, that there are no African countries beginning with the letter K, and that people should eat at least one small stone in a day.
Google is now forced to work to identify such “meaningless questions” that will not show AI search results, limit satire or humor in answers, and impose restrictions on suggestions where the AI results are not useful.
In addition, Google will block content from forums and social networks that may contain false advice.
