In a recent incident involving cocaine hidden in bananas, AADE inspectors at Piraeus Customs found a large quantity of cocaine, well hidden in container boxes from Ecuador declared to contain inner banana.
As part of the special operation “Coca Banana”, and with the help of a special x-ray machine and the dog Max, the controllers found and seized 21 packages of cocaine, weighing twenty and one kilogram (21 kg), with the value of the drugs estimated to exceed one million euros!
An x-ray scan detected organic matter in the container’s cooling machinery. Immediately, the inspectors, along with Max, opened the container and found cocaine.
Today, AADE customs inspectors are investigating, in collaboration with the men of the Attica Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Hellenic Police, the ends of the international ring, to find the end of the thread, while, in the same instance , it is checked whether this case is also related to other cases.
It should be noted that, in the last five years alone, AADE customs inspectors, during the Coca Banana operation, whose model is also used in other actions, have identified and seized more than 3 tons of cocaine.
